Elizabeth Jane Hurley has been a model and actor in England since the late 1980s. In the year 1990 there was speculation that she might be Hugh Grant's lover. The time that Grant became the focus of media attention due to his international box-office success in Four Weddings and a Funeral, Hurley accompanied Grant in the black plunged Versace dress that was secured by silver safety pins. Her appearance gained immediate publicity from the media. The relationship she has had with Estee Lauder has been the highlight of Hurley's career. Hurley's first modelling job was with Estee Lauder at the age of was just 29 years old. The model has been a model since 1995 to promote their cosmetics, and in particular perfumes like Sensuous Intuition as well as Pleasures. Vanessa Kensington is her best known role from the Mike Myers spy comedies International Man of Mystery (1997) and Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me Both of which were huge hits. Hurley designs and models an eponymous line of beachwear. Perry's first attempts to be famous in the mainstream were unsuccessful. She has been signed by 2 distinct record labels, but she resigned prior to releasing any songs. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The title track was a cheerfully flippant song that attracted minimal interest. The song I Kissed a Girl a straightforward ode expressing sexual curiosity backed with a hardedged electro pop beat brought her more attention within a couple of months. I Kissed a Girls was an immediate hit, however it quickly sparked controversies. Critics argued that it promoted same-sex sexual relations and others felt that the story the song depicted appealed more to male fantasies. I Kissed A Girl's mix of excitement, a polished tune and a catchy tune helped the song become a top 10 hit in a variety of countries. This led to the album of the same name of the Boys (2007) which was a huge success. With its bouncy sharp-tongued song, the second Hot N Cold also proving well-loved, the album which Perry wrote herself eventually registered the sales of over three million copies within the United States.
